Philanthropy in Nepal

In Nepal, millions of people were affected by a massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit on April 25, 2015.

There was widespread devastation across the country. Thousands of homes, architectural buildings and important cultural historical sites collapsed or were destroyed.

Our Contribution

With a heavy heart and far away from our second home, we decided we needed to do something. Corala Cashmere, together with friends and family, raised $16,500 in much needed emergency funds through an online campaign to support relief efforts.

Proceeds were donated to support three local not-for-profit organizations on the ground in Nepal, including the Association of Youth Organizations in Nepal (AYON), Childreach Nepal and Mitra Samaaj. Part of our contribution was used to provide emergency medical supplies, blankets, food and shelter to more than 500 people.

The other portion through Childreach Nepal helped to construct 20 permanent classrooms in three schools in the district of Sindhupalchok (one of the area severely damaged by the earthquake).
