Over the past few years, Praj and I have been on an extraordinary journey of learning and discovery as our company Karma Cashmere has taken flight.
We began with a simple idea: to create a collection of beautifully designed luxury accessories handwoven from the finest cashmere in the world.
We knew after our first sold-out holiday season that we had something special on our hands, but we didn't expect just how far and wide this little idea would take us.
Since launching three years ago, we've been back and forth to Nepal multiple times to meet the people behind our products. We've expanded our collection of shawls to include cashmere scarves and hats. And we've made contributions to help individuals and communities impacted by last year's earthquake.
We have grown as a couple and our company has grown alongside us.
Now, as we get ready for another holiday season, we're excited to share some of the creative new things we've been working on behind the scenes.
A name carries a lot of significance. It evokes emotion and connects people to the values we stand for. When we first started, the name "Karma Cashmere" was the perfect fit - honest, sincere, holistic and pure.
But as we grew, it became clear that we were so much more - unique, vibrant, luxurious. We went in search of a new name that reflected those virtues as well.
After many late night conversations and creative brainstorming sessions, we are proud and excited to introduce you to Corala Cashmere - our new brand that's both unique and meaningful.
"Corala" plays on the name of the Kora La pass in the Nepalese Himalayas that acts as a bridge between the world-famous Everest and K2 mountains. This is also the region where some of the finest cashmere in the world (including ours) originates.
Alongside a new name, we've given our brand an exciting refresh with a creative logo designed by the talented Vivienne Kay
The logo features two interconnected types cashmere weaves - diamond and herringbone - and incorporates an abstract representation of the symbolic endless knot.
The colour palette is equally bold. A deep royal purple and rich gold stand out as confident, luxurious colours.
In the months to come, we'll be incorporating this new brand and design elements into our website, packaging and marketing materials. We can't wait to share what's next for Corala Cashmere with you!
Pure cashmere provides the best insulation in the world. It's delicate in texture, yet incredibly warm and very strong. Cashmere is much softer to touch than wool and keeps in the heat without adding too much bulk. But why is cashmere so expensive?
